Camp Apprentice Atlelier- Van Gogh

My first Master Study for Kids is during Apprentice Atelier at Camp heARTful this summer! And it  is all about Vincent Van Gogh and his impact on the art world. Students will create in Van Gogh style. Campers will explore with his techniques using pen and ink sketches before taking paint to canvas.

Students will experiment with repeating lines and patterns which is so recognizable in

 Van Gogh's work.

Campers will also get to use watercolor, practice mark making and do a fun 3-D project to celebrate Vincent and end our week.

Sneak Peek- Felting Sunflowers

I wanted to share a wee little preview of my upcoming Making Lessons Class on felting Sunflowers. This class really excites me because it is like painting with a fiber medium! Those who are joining me, you are going to love it and I know you will want to start felting everything in site! I hope this picture speaks for itself.

 I used this Van Gogh painting as my model.

This one Van Gogh finished in 1888. He painted it while he was in Arles, Bouches-du-Rhone, France.

And below is just a peek at my version done in needle felted wool. I love working with wool in the winter, something about it just seems cozy and right. Can you tell I have Vincent on the brain? I have been preparing for a painting class in my Master Studies Series, along with two workshops I am giving for girls of the American Heritage Girls Club which I am really excited about.

FYI: Making Lessons are stand alone, evening classes for anyone who loves to spend time learning and making new things. Come and be creative with like minded folks for a couple of hours and recharge your creative heart. All Classes run for 2 hours and include materials.  Some classes will require common tools from home. Registration is required you can do this easily online HERE

In this course series students will be introduced to a Master Artist, learn some of their story and create works as they did using their techniques. Students will draw, paint and create three projects from the life of Vincent Van Gogh. This is a beautiful way to study and develop skill, practice and widen your artistic eyes.  For More Details click HERE

Resolve to nurture your Soul in the New Year: DO ART!

I am not a resolution kind of gal, never have been.  However, I am a goal maker -weird I know, but that is the truth. So my secret...set myself up for success.  One way I nurture my soul is to spend time doing things that are worth doing AND having a plan.

So I have been making a plan and doing things worth doing! Are you in need of some soul nurturing in 2016? I've got an idea! Make beautiful things that are meaningful. Join me this year in the studio for Making Lessons~The Art of Making Meaningful Things! These are stand alone classes for 2 hrs. in the evening. Announcing: New Classes for the New Year

I have been thinking and dreaming and I am excited to announce the NEW class list for the New Year at The Apprentice Art Studio... drum roll please!

Staring  Tues. January 5th, 2016 Eelementary Classes begin with Let's Paint! In this 8 week class students will explore all there is to know about paint, color, mixing and more. We will look at traditional methods, as well as, explore modern methods too. We will use a variety of mediums and did I mention, PAINT!

For Adults, more painting! I am offering 3 courses Watercolor Basics, Watercolor II and Master Study-Van Gogh. In Watercolor Basics. This class is for anyone who has ever wanted to try watercolor painting! Get ready to be amazed– you will love it.Watercolor II is for those who have done watercolor before but would like to continue to develop style and skill through the study of still life. This class offers my methodology but different technique and model. Students will choose their own palette to work from in this class. Students may bring own supplies, but not necessary. 

My NEW adult class is the first of  a new series called Master Study, aren't you excited already? In this course students will learn about a Master Artist, their story  and create works as they did using their techniques and mediums. This is a beautiful way to develop skill and practice and widen your artistic eyes. The first in this series of classes is my all time favorite: Van Gogh! I. Can't.Wait. 

And of course there is Making Lessons my stand alone 2 hour classes that give you the opportunity to come relax and do something creative for an evening. These run once a month and utilize all kinds of materials. Starting in February Felting Sunflowers-Van Gogh style. This is a great introduction to the art of hand felting.
